Bookshelf Challenge: Book #5

What did I read?

Love Irresistibly by Julie James
(Genre: Contemporary Romance)
(Amazon||Goodreads||Author'sWebsite)

The synopses?
"HE’S USED TO GETTING WHAT HE WANTS…
A former football star and one of Chicago’s top prosecutors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Cade Morgan will do anything to nail a corrupt state senator, which means he needs Brooke Parker’s help. As general counsel for a restaurant company, she can get a bug to the senator’s table at one of her five-star restaurants so the FBI can eavesdrop on him. All Cade has to do is convince Brooke to cooperate—and he’s not afraid to use a little charm, or the power of his office, to do just that.
AND WHAT HE WANTS IS HER.
A savvy businesswoman, Brooke knows she needs to play ball with the U.S. Attorney’s office—even if it means working with Cade. No doubt there’s a sizzling attraction beneath all their sarcastic quips, but Brooke is determined to keep things casual. Cade agrees—until a surprising turn of events throws his life into turmoil, and he realizes that he wants more than just a good time from the one woman with whom he could fall terrifyingly, irresistibly in love . . ."

Why was it on the shelf?
Julie James is usually an auto-buy for me but this came out on a really crowded release day last year and I kept putting off buying it for some reason or another.  I finally treated myself after seeing it in a used bookstore a few weeks ago.

Why did I finally read it?
It wasn't on the shelves long, but I figure keeping new purchases from becoming true "unread books of DOOM" is as important as reading the old stuff so I'm counting it anyway.

Thoughts on the book?
As usual with this series, I really really liked it.   Cade and Brooke had great chemistry together and I loved them together.  The snappy banter was a total bonus.  I also loved how Brooke was able to find a work/personal life balance that worked for her that felt realistic.

How's the challenge going?
I seem to be in a mood to read multiple books in a row in a series or by the same author.  This appears to be helping me make some progress.
